It was only after I accessed the services of a therapist for my own work and personal issues that I discovered how powerful these modalities were in shifting my unwanted feelings of helplessness and hopelessness and feeling stuck. I began to develop a better understanding of my own energy, state of being, limiting thoughts and the science behind healing the unconscious mind. I tapped into my passion for healing and began this journey you are reading about now.
We are essentially a product of our own thinking. Our thoughts create feelings, energy states and chemicals in our bodies which directly impact our physical and mental wellbeing. Before becoming a hypnotherapist, I spent my career supporting people in a different way. With a background in law, employment relations and change management, I’ve helped people manage and resolve conflict, change and leave positions, heal communication and overcome career challenges.
It’s a career that has seen me work as an Employment Relations Consultant for EMA, an in-house HR Manager across different businesses and as a Solicitor practising civil litigation and family law. I have firsthand experience in my own personal and working life of stress, trauma, fatigue and burnout.
I have been trained and certified by two accredited international schools in the use of hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) techniques. Hypnosis is nothing like what you see in the stage shows; I don’t make you do anything you don’t want and you’ll never lose control. It simply means that you’re in a state of highly focused concentration and relaxation that allows your unconscious mind to receive and process new information. During hypnosis, your unconscious mind can choose to take in healthy positive suggestions and to reframe and release negative thoughts, beliefs and feelings. Hypnotherapy is well-researched, safe and an effective way to help resolve negative emotional responses, trauma, fear, anxiety and unhelpful behaviour.
Similarly, NLP Neuro (brain), linguistic (language) programming works on the premise that our language and communication with ourselves and others, is an internal process that shapes the way we think, feel, behave, our habits and beliefs. These techniques can assist you in setting and achieving goals, managing conflict, and creating healthy relationships. It is also used to overcome phobias and emotional states.
My coaching and ESI mapping knowledge are also integrated into my therapy sessions, these techniques are incredibly useful in helping to define personal and work goals and identify the steps required to achieve desired outcomes.
ESI (Executive State Identification) mapping is centred around understanding where behaviours are coming from, our behaviours are embedded within our neural pathways, some behaviours support us and some can work against us, ESI mapping helps to identify those that are working against us and therefore what we need to change to achieve our goals.
